breaking in a new pair of hiking boots, ones that are no longer so worn at the balls of my feet that I can feel the stones on the trail. Mixed fidelity, the built-in laptop mic that we all zoom through vs. high quality microphone pre-amps: different tools for different things.

Recordings from the base of a wind turbine on private land leased to be publicly available, the fern cave half-frozen, the edge of the canyon waiting out the bison, all from the Llano Estacado.
